Historic Theater Renovation

Historic Theater Renovation brought a 1920s performance venue back to life. Closed for over a decade, the 1,100-seat theater needed structural repairs, modern safety systems, and the careful restoration of its original decorative features.
Project Overview
The project balanced preservation with performance. Original plasterwork, gilding, and the proscenium arch were restored by heritage specialists, while new rigging, acoustics, accessibility upgrades, and back-of-house facilities prepared the venue for modern productions.
Our Role
Buildify served as principal contractor, working closely with heritage consultants and the city’s preservation office. We sequenced the work so that delicate restoration and heavy structural upgrades could happen safely side by side.

Key Features
Restoration of original plasterwork and gilding
Seismic strengthening of the auditorium structure
New stage rigging and theatrical lighting systems
Full accessibility upgrades, including new lifts
Modern fire protection hidden within historic fabric
Conclusion
The theater reopened to sold-out audiences, its historic character intact and its systems ready for another century of performances. It’s one of the projects our team is proudest of.
